The One With Gene Simmons

New week.
New mysteries.
This week Elder Wadley wrote about an actual experience that happened to him, so I guess as we hit month nine, he is learning?
this week was kinda lame we got transfer calls guess what im getting transferred again im going with elder Cepeda and to a new area yay
im not actually happy it sucks i really like elder cox other then that this week was okay
Elder Cox, Elder Wadley
we had a lot of stuff fall through and then a zone conference we did however have one cool experience it was warm here and so we went to go PC ("PC" anyone? Proselyte/Contact? I forgot to ask him what this meant) a park and as we were walking over a guy pulled over and gave us 20$ his son served a mission and he was just very nice and then we got to the park and we played football and Futbal with some kids and then our branch president took us to Dairy Queen and got us ice cream so that was a really cool day
Money and ice cream in the same week!
Indiana is treating him well.
I just have to say that I am noticing a disturbing trend in the photos that I get from Elder Brendan.
Pic from last week.  Exhibit A.
Exhibit B.
Exhibit C. Why are there missionaries on this roof? I guess we will never know.
At least I know that he doesn't have strep throat. I can see his full tonsils.
I told him to do me a favor and leave his tongue in his mouth for next weeks pictures. Or forever.
It sure makes him look "special."
Thank goodness for other mama's that share photos with me.
This one came from Sister Burgon's (cute sister in the stripes) mom :
All Mormon church buildings look the same inside. lol.
And this one came from Klisse Foster:
He said he was transferred to another area of Indianapolis. Still Spanish speaking, and he said that Spanish is coming along. He can understand quite a bit, but still can't speak it very well.
I keep praying for a miracle for him with the language.
In the meantime, I asked him if he needed anything and he asked me to send him some Sculpey clay.
I swear I end his blog posts every week with the same thing.

He is so weird.

The One With a Suspicious Smile

Thank goodness for pictures.
That is Elder Wadley's only saving grace this week.
I think one of the classes they teach in the MTC should be "how to write home to your mother." Since Elder Jayden has been home, I have talked with him, and these stories keep rolling out, and as much as I am enjoying hearing them, I have to bite my tongue to keep from screaming "WHY THE CRAP DIDN'T YOU WRITE ME THIS?"
Anyway, this was all that I could squeeze out of Elder Brendan this week:
hey mom this week was pretty good its already prom for the twins holy crap thats crazy what did they do for dates and stuff hows the home improvement hey i need one
thing there these scriptures tabs ill send pics of them. Spanish its coming i can understand a lot but cant talk yet. we have an investigator on date right now.
If you can't speak Spanish yet, how do you contribute to your lessons?
I pray for my companion
I kind of love this. I am seeing small changes.

He looks happy. Although I am a tad afraid of what he is smiling at. Maybe the last few photos?

The One With -7 Cents

I found some stretchy pants for Elder Brendan.
Elder Wadley, Elder Cox
I found them at Costco and bought him three pairs. He said they were perfect. I am grateful for the little things. I also found myself some stretchy pants at the same time. They literally feel just like sweats, but make me look a little less frumpy, so I guess that is a double miracle!
(If you are wondering, they are the David Bitton Buffalo Super Stretch Jeggings. They have circus sizing. I fit a 4 in these. This is not accurate to the size of my butt. It's Cadbury mini-egg season, internets. "Super stretchy" is the winning adjective here.)
Anyway, here is Elder Brendan's report this week:
hey mom this week was good and bad we got a lot of stuff accomplished
but i also got robbed again and sick so that was sucky umm
investigators are doing good my spanish is doing good the pants are perfect exactly what i needed haha
I asked him what the crap about the ROBBERY?
they got into our car somehow and stole my GPS and 7 cents
Then I asked him what he meant by "a lot of stuff accomplished."
yeah we had a really effective day in finding people and stuff like that
I would like to remind you all at this point that Elder Wadley has been Spanish speaking for four weeks now. So he and his companion are actively trying to find Spanish speaking investigators.
How do you find people? Do you have a method?
tracting but there are certain things you look for
Like what?
1. three pronged satellite dishes they pick Hispanic stations 2. mops
on a porch 3. weird color houses 4. Christmas lights 5. cars with the
registration of 1-31 stuff like that
So anyway.
He is picking up more and more Spanish. He said he loves the people, he loves their food, and he is very happy right now.
He also sent some random pictures:
Indianapolis Temple

"those are alcohol bottles that we find and fill up with different liquids". (Your guess is as good as mine as to what he means by "liquids." I am loving how the one bottle is marked "desayuno" Spanish for "breakfast.")

These are all the stuffed animals they have won from the claw machine in their Laundromat. They must do a lot of laundry.

The One With Stretchy Pants

Slim pickings on any sort of substantial updates on Elder Brendan. I am not sure why it is like pulling teeth to get this kid to say anything. Somehow I manage to pull together an e-mail to him, every week, where I use my words to make the highlight of my week- a trip to Costco, sound like an adventure of epic proportions! Well, not really, but at least I try.
I have friends with kids out who get actual stories and whatnot.
I don't ever know what to say when they ask "How is your boy doing?'
"Well, thank you for asking. I DON'T KNOW."
Exhibit A:
hey this week was pretty cool though we had interviews that was good
ummmmmmm i went on an exchange with the zone leaders that was fun
other then that not much has happened.
For real. That was it.
I asked some questions, and at some point during the conversation I did get this tidbit:
my spanish is good mom i need new pants my golf ones are worn out the
jack nicklaus ones they are worn out
So just some casual pants? What size are both of those pairs?
they have to be golf pants cause theyre stretchy and just the best
I need sizes and luck.
You know how Ross is!
I'll do my best.
my waist is a 36 and my legs im not sure
Look inside your pants label. I can't guess on that. Remember when we go to Ross you have to try on a bunch of pants? I need somewhere to start.
ill look this week and let you know theyre at home
Then he was gone.
(Insert eye-roll.)

Storm rolling in. Indianapolis, Indiana

Elder Wadley, sad, maybe because his pants are not stretchy.
